Most health calculators hand you a figure and hide the maths. Ours names the equation, shows the inputs it used, and says where the estimate stops being reliable.

A published equation

Every tool runs a formula from the clinical literature, named on the page: Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, Katch-McArdle, Widmark, Naegele.

Checked against its source

Each formula is verified against the paper it comes from before release, and our health and medical articles are reviewed by an MBBS physician on the board.

The limits are stated

Each result comes with the cases it does not cover, so you know when to stop reading a screen and talk to a clinician.
